Norfolk, Virginia is a city steeped in history. Dating back to the earliest settlements in the new country, Norfolk was founded in 1682 and incorporated in 1736. The oldest building in this collection of images is St. Paul’s Episcopal Church, built in 1739 and the only building to survive the fires of 1776 that destroyed most of the rest of the city. Other buildings here date to the early 18th century to the late 20th century.
